SOUND Healing

individual sound meditation and group soundbaths in pasadena, ca

Sound healing offers a way to release what you're holding, quiet the noise, and return to yourself.

Whether you're looking for deep relaxation, emotional release, or a way to reconnect with your body, sound can guide you there. No talking, analyzing, or figuring anything out required. Just receive. Through the vibrations of Himalayan singing bowls, crystal bowls, gongs, and other instruments, I create a space where your nervous system can unwind, stuck energy can move, and you can remember what it feels like to simply be.

What is sound Healing?

Sound healing is an ancient practice that uses the natural vibrations of instruments like singing bowls, gongs, and other resonant instruments to invite your body into balance and deep rest.

When you're immersed in sound, the vibrations move through your body—calming your mind, releasing physical tension, and creating space for what's been stuck to shift. Many people experience a sense of floating, grounding, or timelessness as the body settles into a deeply meditative state.

Something beyond the thinking mind responds. Your body remembers resonance. Your nervous system remembers ease. You don’t have to analyze or effort—sound meets you where you are and does the work for you.

Sound healing can stand on its own or complement other practices like therapy, yoga, or meditation. It’s for anyone seeking rest, clarity, and a deeper connection to themselves—without words, striving, or fixing.

WHAT TO EXPECT

INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS

You'll lie down on a comfortable surface, fully clothed, and simply receive. I'll use singing bowls, tuning forks, and other instruments around and sometimes on your body (only if you’d like), allowing the vibrations to move through you.

Sessions are typically 60 minutes and can be tailored to what you're working with—whether that's stress, insomnia, grief, or simply needing to rest more deeply.

Some people fall asleep. Some cry. Some feel energy moving or emotions surfacing. Some simply feel held. There's no right way to experience sound—whatever arises is welcome.

Sessions are available in-person in Pasadena.

WHAT TO EXPECT

GROUP SOUNDBATHS

Soundbaths are a communal experience of deep rest and meditation. You'll lie down in a group in a quiet space while I play a combination of gongs, Himalayan singing bowls, crystal bowls, and other instruments. The sounds wash over and through you, inviting your body to soften, settle, and release.

Most soundbaths last 60-90 minutes. Wear comfortable clothes, bring a yoga mat or blanket if you'd like extra cushioning, and simply allow yourself to receive. No meditation experience needed—just show up and let the sound do the rest.

Sound healing isn't about fixing or solving. It's about creating the conditions for your body to remember how to heal itself.

Potential benefits:

  • Deep rest and relief from stress or overwhelm

  • Emotional release without having to talk about it

  • Moving stuck energy or tension in the body

  • Spiritual connection and deeper presence

  • A space to just be

Sound can quiet your mind when meditation feels hard. It can soften what's rigid, move what's stuck, and bring you back to your body when you've been living in your head. Some people experience profound shifts in a single session. Others find that the benefits deepen over time—better sleep, more ease, a greater sense of being held by something larger than themselves.

This isn't a quick fix. It's an invitation to slow down, to listen, and to trust that your body knows what it needs.

MY STORY:

Nearly two decades ago, I found myself drawn to a spiritual path that would change the direction of my life.

I completed yoga teacher training, studied mindfulness meditation, and in a pranayamic breathwork class, I first heard the gongs—and fell completely in love. The power of those vibrations, the way they moved through my body and shifted something I couldn't name, pulled me deeper.

That moment led me to follow my curiosity into sound healing. Since 2012, I've deepened my training and continue to study and practice with dedication and reverence for this ancient work.

Sound healing isn't something I do—it's woven into who I am. Whether you're new to this practice or have been on a spiritual path for years, my approach is welcoming, grounded, and centered on your experience. This work is about you—what you need, what wants to move, and what's ready to shift.

  • Somatic sound therapy is a body-based healing modality that uses therapeutic sound and vibration to help release trauma, tension, and emotions stored in your nervous system and tissues. I use instruments like singing bowls, gongs, chimes, and tuning forks to create vibrations that move through your body at a cellular level.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, somatic sound therapy works beneath the level of language — directly with your nervous system, helping it shift from dysregulation to a state of safety and rest. It's experiential, not cognitive. You don't have to talk, analyze, or understand what's happening. You simply receive.

  • Talk therapy works primarily with the thinking brain — helping you understand patterns, gain insight, and develop coping strategies. Somatic sound therapy works with the subcortical brain and nervous system — the parts that hold trauma beneath conscious awareness. Many people find that talk therapy helps them understand why they feel the way they do, but it doesn't shift how their body responds to triggers or stress. Sound therapy addresses that gap. It's not a replacement for talk therapy, but it can be a powerful complement — especially if you've done a lot of cognitive work but your body is still stuck.

  • While sound baths are typically group experiences focused on relaxation and meditation (which I also lead!), somatic sound therapy is one-on-one, clinically informed, and tailored to your specific nervous system needs and trauma history.

Sound baths are wonderful for stress relief, but somatic sound therapy goes deeper — it's designed to work with trauma, chronic tension, and nervous system dysregulation in a therapeutic context.

I'm trained to work with trauma responses, dissociation, and emotional release in ways that prioritize your safety and regulation.

The sessions are also more personalized — I place instruments on and around your body based on where you're holding tension or where trauma is stored.

  • Most people describe it as deeply relaxing, almost meditative, and you'll feel the vibrations moving through your body.

The instruments can be placed on your body for a more direct vibrational experience, but this is only done if it feels right for you. Many people prefer to have the instruments played around their body rather than on it, and that's completely fine — the vibrations still reach you and do their work.

Some people enter a trance-like or deeply restful state. Others process emotions — you might cry, feel waves of grief or release, or have memories surface.

Some people feel physical sensations like tingling, warmth, or the release of tension in specific areas. There's no "right" way to experience it. Whatever arises is what your body needs to process in that moment.

  • Absolutely. Many of my clients combine somatic sound therapy with talk therapy, and they often find the two modalities complement each other beautifully. Talk therapy helps you understand and make meaning of your experiences; sound therapy helps your body release what's been stored.

That said, somatic sound therapy can also be a standalone treatment. You don't need to be in talk therapy to benefit from this work. Some people prefer body-based approaches and find that sound therapy meets their needs without requiring traditional talk therapy. It's effective either way — in conjunction with other modalities or on its own.

If you are working with another therapist, I'm happy to coordinate care (with your permission) to make sure we're supporting your healing in an integrated way.

  • Schedule a Free Consultation and choose a time that works for you. We'll spend 20 minutes on the phone talking about what you're looking for and whether my approach feels like a good match. If it does, we'll schedule your first session and get started. If not, that's okay too — I'm happy to provide referrals to other therapists who might be a better fit.
