Therapy for BURNOUT

“I'm doing everything I'm supposed to do, so why do I feel so empty?”

“Everyone thinks I'm fine because I'm still getting things done.”

“I can't remember the last time I felt rested — even after a full night's sleep.”

Sound familiar?

You’re still functioning. but you’re running on empty.

Burnout is different from just being tired. It's the kind of exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix. It's waking up already depleted, going through the motions of a life that used to excite you, and wondering when you became so disconnected from yourself.

Most people experiencing burnout aren't failing — they're still showing up, still performing, still meeting expectations. But underneath the capable exterior is a person running on fumes, a nervous system that's forgotten how to rest, and a growing sense that this isn't sustainable — but you don't know how to stop.

Burnout can look like chronic fatigue, cynicism about work that used to matter, emotional numbness, or irritability you can't quite explain. It can feel like everything requires effort — even things that used to be easy or enjoyable. It's checking all the boxes but feeling empty. It's achieving your goals and still asking, "Is this it?"

You don't need to quit your job or blow up your life. You need to learn how to care deeply without depleting yourself in the process.

Explore

your past experiences

Burnout doesn't happen overnight. It develops over time — often in environments or relationships where your worth felt tied to your productivity, where rest was seen as weakness, or where you learned that your needs come last.

We'll explore how your early experiences with achievement, caregiving, and self-worth shaped the patterns that led you here. This isn't about blaming your past; it's about understanding why you internalized the belief that you have to earn your rest, your value, or your right to slow down.

identify

The root cause

Burnout is a symptom of something deeper — often a nervous system that never learned it's safe to stop, beliefs about productivity and worth that were formed early in life, or attachment patterns where love felt conditional on performance.

We'll identify what's underneath: the perfectionism, the people-pleasing, the fear of disappointing others, or the belief that your value is tied to what you produce. Once you understand what's driving the depletion, you can address it at the root rather than just pushing through.

uncover

What matters to you

Burnout often happens when you've lost sight of what you're working toward — or realized that what you're chasing doesn't actually align with what you value.

We'll help you reconnect with what truly matters: what brings you meaning, what kind of life you want to build, and what you're willing to protect (including your own well-being). This isn't about quitting everything; it's about making intentional choices that honor both your ambitions and your humanity.

…then let’s talk.

Burnout is not a sign that you are broken. It's a sign that you have been strong for too long without enough support.

  • Stress is a response to external pressure — too much on your plate, a tight deadline, a challenging project. It's the feeling of "too much."

Burnout, on the other hand, is the feeling of "not enough" — not enough energy, not enough meaning, not enough left to give. Stress usually eases when the situation resolves. Burnout lingers, even when you take time off or check things off your list. It's what happens when you've been running on empty for so long that rest doesn't restore you anymore.

  • Yes. While burnout often requires practical changes (boundary-setting, workload adjustments, saying no more often), therapy addresses the underlying beliefs and patterns that led you here in the first place.

We'll explore why rest feels threatening, why your worth feels tied to productivity, and what keeps you saying yes when you need to say no.

Therapy helps you understand not just what to change, but why it's been so hard to change — and how to build a life that's actually sustainable.

  • I don't just focus on time management or stress reduction techniques (though we may work on those too). I help you understand the root causes: the beliefs about worth and productivity that were formed early in life, the nervous system patterns keeping you stuck in overdrive, and the attachment wounds that taught you your value is conditional on what you produce.

I integrate EMDR, somatic work, and depth psychology to address burnout at multiple levels — not just behavior, but the underlying beliefs and nervous system dysregulation driving it.

  • Schedule a Free Consultation and choose a time that works for you. We'll spend 20 minutes on the phone talking about what you're looking for and whether my approach feels like a good match. If it does, we'll schedule your first session and get started. If not, that's okay too — I'm happy to provide referrals to other therapists who might be a better fit.
